On Saturday the 17th June we participated in the inaugural Peterborough International Women's Choral Festival, and what a fantastic day filled with amazing talent it was!
The competition was fierce and we came away 4th with a distinction!
Our wonderful Musical Director also came away with the Conductor's Award. Congratulations Joshua!
On Saturday the 10th June choirs decended into Kettering's Salvation Army's citadel for the second NNMF festival, and what a day it was!
This year the festival was adjudicated by Paul Phoenix (former member of the King’s Singers) who offered warm, emotional and genuine feedback to the choirs and soloists.
Our particular highlight was when Paul said that we were "more than just a choir". We pride ourselves on our friendliness, support to one another and to other choirs.
The Choir came away with the following awards:
1st in Ladies Choral Class (91)
1st in Show Songs Class (94)
2nd in Sacred Class (93)
2nd in Community Choir Class (93)
Best Song Interpretation Award - The Seal Lullaby
Peoples Choir Winner
Choir of Choirs Winner 2023
The Choir went on an adventure to the beautiful cathedral in Bury St Edmunds on Saturday 27th May.
The sun was shining, the sky was blue and the cathedral was filled with the ladies voices.
We look forward to returning next year!
Preparations for a joint concert started last year, and it all came together on Saturday 29th June. The ladies and gents got together to fill Wellingborough's URC with fabulous music
We shared tea, cakes and stories together and bonded over a love of music and singing.
Much fun and laughter was had, and we are looking forward to 2024 with a potential joint concert hosted by the boys!
At the start of March the Decibelles went to Wales to compete in the North Wales Choir Festival. Whilst we didn't place, we had amazing feedback from the adjudicators and other choirs.
Needless to say the choir had an amazing social weekend away. Many, many memories made together. All simply because of music. How wonderful is that?
The Decibelles resumed rehearsals on the 5th January, raring to go and tackle the pieces for the upcoming competitions.
The Choir will be busy over the first half of the year attending several festivals. The first being a weekend trip away to Llandudno. Watch out Wales!
We are still reveling from out Calendar escapades, so here's one of our photos!
